Aortic Aneurysms
Aneurysms are dilated arteries which can be at risk of rupture and bleeding. They can affect any part of the body.
Eastern Vascular is a specialist vascular surgery practice based in Melbourne, Australia. We believe in comprehensive medical assessments, including on-site diagnostic vascular ultrasound, with professional advice from qualified specialists.
Our recommendations and treatments are tailored to your needs, ranging from minimally invasive vascular procedures, endovascular surgery, and major open surgery.
Our practice cares for patients using a wide range of techniques, including minor office-based procedures, endovascular angioplasty or stenting, or major open surgical bypass or repair.
We deal with a wide range of problems, from peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery disease, abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection, and varicose veins, as well as complex and less common vascular conditions.
‘From experience we should derive wisdom: but in surgery experience is never finished and wisdom is never complete’
Eastern Vascular is led by Clinical Associate Professor Jason Chuen, Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon.
Aneurysms are dilated arteries which can be at risk of rupture and bleeding. They can affect any part of the body.
Blocked or narrowed arteries can limit blood flow to muscles causing pain on exercise. Severe blockages can cause ulcers or gangrene.
The carotid arteries supply the brain. Loose plaques or clot (emboli) can cause a stroke.
Venous insufficiency can cause dilated veins, congestion and swelling in the legs, sometimes even serious skin damage.
Haemodialysis for kidney failure needs reliable vascular access, such as through an AV fistula, AV graft or dialysis catheter.
Compressed arteries and veins in the neck can cause pain in the arms, especially when elevated above the head.
Many vascular surgical conditions are affected by factors such as smoking, diet, and exercise. We encourage you to address these factors both before and after visiting our practice.
